ANDRE WALKER

Watch our Tasoni Talks interview with designer Andre Walker.  Andre is one of fashion's most prolific and versatile creatives, who has continued to inspire both leaders of the avant-garde and those heading up major luxury labels for the past two decades. We talked to him about his career, his perspective on fashion and the current situation. There is no calculated commercialism to what Andre does: not when he started his career, designing for Willi Smith's Williwear in the 1980s, nor in his own line, which he shows from time to time since he made his first show at 15 years in a nightclub in New York. Perhaps this is why other greats in the fashion world, such as Kim Jones and Marc Jacobs have turned to Andre for creative collaborations. Walker has also collaborated with Comme des Garçons, Pendleton and for Virgil Abloh and Off White.  When looking for creative partners or collaborators, Walker focuses on important points: “I look for technical skill beyond my own understanding, a logical approach to product-making, or some kind of integrity regarding the aesthetic / sustainable awareness of the production model in place within the company's approach to their proposed goods. ” AW.
