A VISION IN PAPER: INSIDE THE DAMIAN FOPP-DESIGNED SUMMER WINDOWS
TASONI WINDOWS
DAMIAN FOPP
With Fall around the corner, we are excited to highlight our summer windows that make us dream of the warmer weather. Designed in collaboration with the visionary designer Damian Fopp, he has transformed our store windows into captivating scenes that evoke a sense of wonder and discovery. His inspiration for this year’s installation comes from an unexpected source—a fleeting moment from a Japanese film from the 70s. Reflecting on this moment, Fopp shares,“A Japanese avant-garde movie from 1972 opens with a bright orange screen that gets torn apart like a piece of paper, revealing layers of paper underneath, giving form to an abstract landscape. This striking opening scene with a duration of a mere second inspired this year’s Tasoni Summer windows. Colorful layers of paper make up serene landscapes in which selected products nestle and co-exist. Each window has a carefully selected color palette and, upon closer examination, the texture of the paper reveals itself and adds another layer of depth. What was once a blip in an obscure movie has here been extended and enriched to last a whole Summer.”
Our summer windows showcase the beauty and creativity of the brands we support. Each window tells a unique story, reflecting the essence of the collections within. The selection of brands highlighted this season—Courrèges, Loewe, Partow, Destree, Muzungu Sisters, Bode, Khaite, and Jacquemus—represent the pinnacle of contemporary style, each bringing a distinct perspective to the world of fashion. In one of the windows, Courrèges takes center stage, its sleek lines and futuristic silhouettes from the Reedition Collection perfectly complementing the abstract landscape created by Fopp. Another window is dedicated to Loewe, where the brand’s exquisite craftsmanship is brought to life against a backdrop of warm, earthy tones. Damian’s use of textured paper in shades of terracotta and ochre creates a tactile environment that echoes Loewe’s dedication to materials and artisanal techniques.
Partow and Destree’s window is a celebration of minimalism, where clean lines, soft hues, and jacquard fabrics create an atmosphere of understated elegance. The window featuring Muzungu Sisters transports viewers to a world of global craftsmanship and cultural heritage. Layers of paper in sunset tones form a backdrop that is both grounded and vibrant, reflecting the inspiration behind Muzungu Sisters’s latest collection - the sunsets and beach landscapes of Vagator. The display features the exclusive hand-embroidered Frangipani Dress and raffia bucket bag, each piece telling a story of craftsmanship and community.
Bode’s window is a journey through time, where nostalgia and narrative come together. Damian’s use of textured paper in shades of vintage-inspired colors—mustards and blush pinks—creates a landscape that feels both familiar and new. The pieces, with their intricate appliqués and storytelling elements, are displayed in a way that invites you to appreciate the artistry of the present.
