BODE: THE DEBUT OF AMERICAN WOMENSWEAR

Since Emily Adams Bode launched her namesake brand in 2016, she has been known for designing beautiful menswear that focuses on the storytelling of American families. To date, her collections have featured modern workwear silhouettes that are finished using historical techniques. Now, for FW23, Bode is debuting her first womenswear line.

Attended by Tasoni, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Bode presented a mixed gender Fall/Winter collection entitled

“The Crane Estate.” Often drawing inspiration from her father, Bode turned to her mother’s side of the family for her womenswear debut. Clothes and accessories featured historical reproductions of her family, from 1920s beaded dresses to 1940s velvet gowns. Embroidery remained at the forefront of Bode’s collection, including patterned patchwork, sequins, and graphics, all of which referenced family heirlooms. Pivoting from workwear silhouettes, Bode’s womenswear featured delicate lace lingerie, silk teddies, and knitted wool shorts.
