INNOVATION AND SUBTLETY AT BOTTEGA VENETA

DESIGNER FOCUS

BOTTEGA VENETA

Since its inception in 1966 in Vicenza, Italy, Bottega Veneta has delved into the possibilities afforded by placing the finest leather and materials in the hands of dedicated master craftspeople. Over the years, they have continued to define a differentiated brand design language, the most famous example of which is the intrecciato technique, in which leather is hand-woven for a distinctive crisscross pattern. Elements of brand design language are cleverly incorporated into all of Bottega Veneta’s collections - allowing the brand to push themselves with integral design storytelling that does not simply add a logo in order to communicate where the product came from, but instead employs a sophisticated fusion of branding and form. These evolving codes are the basis of experimentation in silhouettes and detailing, a boldness that creative director Daniel Lee has continued to push forward.

The clever Belt Pouch in Racing Green balances its voluminous structure with a clean chain strap, and is perfect for a transition from fall to early spring with a dynamic punch of color in an unexpected silhouette. Carry it with an understated edit for an eclectic twist. The Shell Bag, crafted from leather in a basket shape, recalls the label's signature intrecciato weave in a scaled-up, conceptual art style. Its buttery calfskin leather and paneled construction evolve the house codes with an eclectic twist in this striking contemporary piece. MORE STORIES
