CONTEMPORARY CRAFT AT LOEWE

DESIGNER FOCUS

LOEWE

Founded in Madrid at the turn of the 19th century, Loewe embeds craft into the DNA of each product it creates, originally cementing a reputation with Spanish royalty as the best source for high-quality leather goods, and now establishing itself as a go-to for today’s most discerning design lovers. With designer Jonathan Anderson at the helm, each collection is informed by the house's rich history, yet pushes the envelope with strikingly fresh designs. Each collection introduces new concepts and inventive integrations of global forms of craft into the codes of the House. The Loewe Fringes Bucket Bag in Green and Honey is a prime example of this inventive fusion of traditional craft and luxury design. The bag is designed in collaboration with Álvaro Leiro, a weaver who has dedicated himself to preserving age-old Galician basketry techniques. The Fringes Bucket Bag is composed of supple leather with an intricate open-work exterior, a flat base, and a charming fringe around a circular open top.

Another standout Loewe piece defined by its highly original silhouette is the Classic Calfskin Top Handle Mini Puzzle Bag. The Puzzle bag’s innovative cuboid shape is meticulously handcrafted to create a supple, yet distinctively geometric silhouette. It is the first completely new bag designed by Jonathan Anderson, and has become an iconic design from contemporary Loewe. Featuring a distinctive geometric shape, extreme tactility and maximum utility, clever touches are embedded throughout: for example, extra interior volume is created through precise cutting. The Puzzle Bag can be worn in five different ways from shoulder bag to clutch - and it folds completely flat.

Both styles are iconic silhouettes from the storied leather goods house, and are renowned for balancing the functional needs of modern life with innovative construction. We expect nothing less from a brand as deftly adaptive to the style tastes of the times, yet firmly dedicated to its core philosophy. MORE STORIES
